Almost too cute to eat. Almost.
These would definitely be too cute to eat – if they weren’t filled with cake, frosting, and all the other necessities your (ok, my) body needs.
For your next Playdate. Birthday. Or how cute would these be in an Easter basket!?
I highly recommend:
Bunny Cake Bites!
freakin’ adorable ‘lil wabbits, aren’t they?
Bunny Cake Bites
Yield: approximately 40 cake balls
Ingredients:
2 packages (16 oz.) Vanilla CANDIQUIK® Coating
1 box yellow cake mix (plus ingredients)
1/2 cup vanilla or cream cheese frosting
1 bag large marshmallows
Pink sugar crystal sprinkles
Pink heart shaped sprinkles
Black Cake writing icing, edible marker, or melted chocolate CandiQuik (eyes)
Directions:
1. Prepare and bake cake mix as directed on box. Let cool.
(I baked two 8″ round cakes, but it really doesn’t matter - just happened to be that my large one was being occupied)
2. Crumble cake into a large bowl. Add frosting and mix thoroughly (it may be easier to use fingers to mix together).
3. Roll mixture into 1″ balls.
Chill cake balls in the refrigerator for approx. 1 hour (you can speed this up by placing in the freezer).
4. Cut the edge of a large marshmallow diagonally in the shape of ears. Sprinkle the pink sugar crystals onto the sticky side of the marshmallow (for best results, press the sticky side of the marshmallow into the sprinkles).
For super pink bunny ears! –>
Cut the marshmallow diagonally like shown
Dump your sprinklesin a neat pile on a sheet of wax paper
Press the sticky side of the marshmallow into the pile of pink sugar
5. Melt Vanilla CANDIQUIK® according to the directions on the package.
6. Using a spoon, dip and completely coat a cake ball in the Vanilla CANDIQUIK - let the excess drip off and then slide the cake ball onto the wax lined baking sheet.
7. Quickly, before the CANDIQUIK sets, place 2 marshmallow pieces (ears) on top of the cake ball and hold in place until the coating sets. Then stick one heart-shaped sprinkle on the front of the cake ball for the nose.
8. Draw two dots for eyes with writing icing/edible writer/or choco candy coating.
If you want – stick a little marshmallow on his behind, it would make a cute little tail
