Homemade Payday Candy Bars

Homemade Payday Candy Bars - @candiquik

Some of you may recognize these from a while back when Hayley and I put together this Copycat Candy Bar post (which you should really check out).

But looking back, I never dedicated these bars their own post, which they definitely deserve.

I’ll be the first to admit, I am not a fan of Payday candy bars. They just don’t do it for me. Now hand over a Homemade Almond Joy or one of these Ooey Gooey Snickers Bars and I’ll love you forever. BUT these Payday bars – whoa. These bars are phenomenal. There’s just something about making them yourself that adds that extra special touch and taste.

Whip up a batch of these, bring them anywhere and you’re guaranteed to make instant friends.

Serves: 12-16
Ingredients
  • 2 Cups salted peanuts
  • 2 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 1 (16 oz.) package Vanilla CANDIQUIK Coating
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • ½ bag caramel bits
Instructions
  1. Line a 8x8" pan with aluminum foil and lightly spray with nonstick spray.
  2. Pour one cup of salted peanuts into the pan and spread out evenly to cover the entire bottom of the pan. Sprinkle miniature marshmallows on top of peanuts.
  3. Melt Vanilla CANDIQUIK in tray, according to package directions. Stir in peanut butter.
  4. Pour half of the CANDIQUIK mixture over the top of the peanuts/marshmallows and use a spoon to spread the coating evenly over the top.
  5. In a medium saucepan, melt caramel bits with 1 tablespoon of water, over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Drizzle caramel over the top of the CANDIQUIK.
  6. Pour the remaining CANDIQUIK over the caramel and use a spoon to spread the coating evenly over the top again.
  7. Top with remaining peanuts. Let set for 30-45 minutes, or until completely firm. Cut into squares to serve.
  8. *To speed up the setting, place in the refrigerator until firm.

What is your all time favorite candy bar?

I encourage you to try these even if Payday’s are not your deal. They promise to deliver!

They are also gluten-free and only take about 15 minutes to throw together (the majority of the time is spent making sure they are completely firm to cut into bars).

I have to say that these bars seem absolutely gorgeous and make me hungry !
But there is a little problem : I live in France and nothing looks like your package of Vanilla CANDIQUIK Coating. What could I use instead ?
