Key Lime Cake Pops

Key Lime Cake Pops - A favorite! @candiquik

These Key Lime Cake Pops go down in my book as my favorite cake pop flavor ever. Plenty of lime flavor packed into these pops! Key kime cake, key lime Frosting AND lime spiked CandiQuik Coating.

Seriously. Cannot stop eating these.

My kitchen smells like a tropical lime wonderland. My hands (thanks to spilling this oil down them) also smell like a lime wonderland.

It’s not a bad scent to have smeared on yourself however. I think I’ll make a new perfume and call it ‘Key Lime Cake Pop’.

It promises to turn heads; although probably because people will want to eat you and/or lick you. Nevermind, maybe not my best idea ever.

However, in junior high my girlfriends and I bathed ourselves in cotton candy scented body spray. So maybe if I market it to the appropriate age group…what do ya think? Key Lime Cake Pop body spray?!

Anyways, ya’ll have cake pops to make so let’s get started.

Key Lime Cake Pops made with the Easy Roller! @candiquik

I made these using the Easy Roller. Have you seen it? It’s pretty nifty. I definitely could’ve put this baby to work when I had to make those 2,000 cake balls! Jennifer from Heavenly Cake Pops invented the Easy Roller and sent me one to try out – sweet! I have always been curious as to how it would work and….

It worked great!

It did take me a couple times to get the hang of it but once I did, I can definitely see how it would save you time rolling your cake  mixture into balls. If you watch this video tutorial you can see how it does it’s magic.

I was able to have my entire cake rolled into balls in about 5-10 minutes with the Easy Roller (I’m still a beginner) and I only needed to slightly mold them with my hands (as I normally would) into perfect circles before dipping.

I love it! Lime is such an under-appreciated citrus flavor, and I imagine it’s the perfect flavoring for making some refreshing cake pops. As to the body scent, I feel like Bath & Body Works might already have one–they seriously have every edible scent ever. I swear they have a “Thanksgiving” one that’s, like, gravy and turkey or something. Aaaanyhow, you should get on that and beat them at their own game!

They look so yummy!! Glad you liked the Easy Roller! With a little practice you will probably even stop touching them up by hand:)! Just remember if they are “square” shaped, there was not enough dough in the rolling chamber (looks like it was a “short log” to start and maybe it started in the middle of the chamber) and if it is “oval shaped” there was too much dough. There are lots of video’s to help here: http://www.thebestcakepops.com/video-support But I think they look pretty good:)!

Hi Jenn, yes I was pretty happy with myself! The shape was pretty good for my first ‘session’…I just had that little indent on the side of the cake ball, not a big deal. The great part is that you could roll out 3-4 cakes worth in no time. Thanks for the video link!

Key Lime, Ohhhhhhh My…I have a Key Lime Pie addiction, that has been subsided for some time, due to my low carb food intake, but I think this would be GREAT for a ‘Free Snack’ day…thanks ohhh so much and yeah bath and body has lots of Lime products, I have many of them myself ;-)

Ran out of the key lime cake mix, so added some Kool-aid key lime flavor to both white cake mix and white frosting with a drop or two of green food coloring. Also did this for a pink lemonade flavoring for some cake and cookie balls. I make cookie balls using store bought sugar cookies for a generic flavor and if you ask at you supermarket for some baked without the sugar topping–all the better and then add powdered drink flavors to the mix as you add frosting to the cookie crumbles (3-4 doz. cookies to 3/4 can of frosting). If you buy the ones with the sugar topping, then let mixture, after frosting added, store in the refrigertor in Ziploc bag for 3-4 days and that dissolves the sugar from the tops of the cookies. Works best as balls, not pops if using cookies. Lemon pudding cake from bakery with the top skimmed off of the frosting that generlly crystalizes is great for a lemon flavor ball.
